As the time for our adoption training comes closer, I am beginning to think more of this little one that will soon come into our lives. It is hard to keep my crafting hands still when I know a baby is on the brink. But this situation is so different. Not only is the sex a mystery, but so is the time frame, and the age. Going on the information that our agency typically places infants for adoption, I have begun some infant knitting. It feels so good to have a tangible presence of this baby. S/he is not growing inside of me, but I can begin our bonding by thinking and praying over this child, stitch by stitch.
Something that is always on my mind is how to nourish this child. I am a breast feeder, through and through. I was so delighted to learn that I can breast feed my adopted child! It is going to take much more work, but it is do-able- and I am up for the challenge! I came across this article today on the blog Blacktating. It is not an informative article, but I love anything that discusses adoptive breast feeding in such a positive, public way. Check it out if you get the moment!

Oh I am eager to here how this goes! I am proud of you (at the risk of sounding odd saying that) and wish you good luck!
Like your simple blog look, too.

Loved that article! I kept thinking how blessed that baby is to have such a wonderful "nana". Let me know what steps you start taking. I would love to nurse as well! I just think it is so amazing that we can even be talking about this as an option...
Love the new blog look!
Blacktating is letting me write a guest post about Heartline helping women breastfeed in Haiti.
How cool is that?
So proud of what Blacktating is doing!
Call me if you ever want to talk about breastfeeding stuff. I have an Austin number.
Love you...and am praying over each speck of this journey you are on.

i'll probably have some frozen breast milk to donate if you want. i'll be saving it up for you.
love you friend!
hooray for baby knitting and breastfeeding! i'm so excited that the next barnard will be here soon.
praying over your sweet family as you wait for your new one to arrive.
we love you guys!
I'm not an adoptive mother, but I had breast reduction surgery, which made it harder to breastfeed. I found a LOT of information, wisdom, and support on www.bfar.org, specifically the fora. Please check it out -- even though the focus is on breastfeeding after reduction surgery, the wonderful women there would surely embrace you.
Oh, I always thought if I adopted a newborn I'd want to try to breastfeed still! I hope you find all the help you need, Mandi! And I would definitely be knitting, too. :) I'm so excited for you.
Very cool! Love it!
Thank you for visiting my blog! Good luck with your adoption as well!
it is a lot of hard work, but it is very possible and very rewarding!
as a mother that has breastfeed all 3 i would feel the same way. i have read many articles that say it is hard to do, but you can do it! best wishes for you and your little family:)
