Yay! Don't you love that? It's amazing to me how the few extra minutes of daylight make them start laying again! And here we still have quite a bit more dark than light, but the chickens noticed the difference and eggs started to appear.
Stacy- You should get chickens! They are so much fun and EASY! We have an Australorp (the brown eggs) and an Aracauna (the green eggs). I cannot recommend the Australorp enough. They are extreme weather tolerant and lay like a machine!
woo hoo! my mom has chickens and whenever we actually find the eggs (they love to lay them all over the place) it's cause for a partay!! ;) YOURS, MINE AND OURS
What we did was to put wooden eggs in their laying boxes. Once they saw that they started laying there consistently. And once they have a habit, they don't like change.
What a fun find! Ours haven't stopped laying this year. Just a couple of those really cold days we had an empty nest. We need more chickens for our family, but we are having fun with a few eggs.
