and now for something really fun!

For the past five years I have been searching Craigslist for the perfect camper for us.  This weekend, John found it!

He woke me up Sunday morning and said "let's drive to Kerrville today.  I think I found our camper."  Impromptu trip to the Texas hill country?  To make our dreams come true?  Umm, yeah, I was in!

We threw some clothes and some swim suits into a bag and hit the road.  Four hours later we met The Clipper.  She was in the warehouse of a man that had tons of vintage cars and campers.  He was very accommodating to this family of gear heads and let us look inside and under the hood of every single one.  He had very rare cars and campers.  This one was made in Ft. Worth by a company that was only around for a few years.  He didn't even know the exact year it was made, but placed it between 1957-1960.

I was instantly smitten, but John wasn't so sure.  We talked about all that needed to be done and he was confident that he could do all of the work on it.  We hooked it up to the car and took it down the road.  It handled great.   John made an offer and after some hesitation (he was sad to see it go), he accepted our offer!  And now it's ours!

Let's take a little tour, shall we?

This is the view right when you walk in the little door.  Under the gas cook stove is an ice box.  As in put a block of ice in it!

To the right is the dinette area that converts into a twin bed.  Above it there are handy little shelves with doors (that like to fly off).  The original owner made labels that say "toilet paper" and "medicine".  Ha!

To the left is the full sized bed and a small closet.  See those brackets above the bed?  That is a space for a little hammock/bunk.

This camper is tiny and perfect and just a dream come true!  We are already busy pricing and researching.  John has rebuilt several cars and a house, but this is our first camper.

And it just occurred to me that I haven't even introduced you all to the wagon that will pull the little camper that could...

meet Minnie!

(I'll do a proper intro another day)

Do you have a love for old cars or campers?  Ever taken a project like this on?  Please, tell me all about it!  We are in inspiration mode!

Sweet! We always talk about taking a summer and just cruising the country in a small camper...but now that we have jobs that we go to in summer, it's not possible quite yet.

Sweetie - we just have to meet! I've been thinking about you all week, but was not near a keyboard. The adoption story hit home and I'm so sorry for you pain. I've been on the other end....I'm Georgia's Stacy. So glad to see you are just really diving into enjoying your family this week. Take time to love on your husband and do something extra special to take care of yourself.

I remember the last days, when I was still begging God for us to keep Georgia. But I'd already met Becky and fallen in love...couldn't stand to hurt her. She made everything work.

You & I have so many of the same interests. Just had to comment on the camper. We are looking for one. I want to park her in the back yard with a little stripped awning and cute chairs and funky lights. We will name her Mary Mary.

Please email me privately. I'd love to know where you guys moved to after Brenham. And - I'd love to meet you!
