My son just lost his first about 2 months ago...followed by the second a month ago...now he has a crop of 4 more wiggly teeth...too soon I'll have a toothless little boy!
Oh, loosing teeth is so exciting! (And I always think "Boy am I glad to be past that phase of my life!")
About cheese: Yes, you do need rennet, as well as culture (though I use raw yogurt) and it's best with some lipase. I buy my cheese-making things through Hoegger's goat supply. Here's my mozz recipe: http://fiascofarm.com/dairy/mozzarella.htm
It's taken some practice to get it just right since it's a more finicky cheese due to the dependence on acid levels. But it's so yummy! Even the failed batches make good quesadillas, though.
His time will come, ssm! The first missing tooth is kind of a landmark for kids, no? It does show that they've grown up a bit, losing their baby teeth and growing permanent pearly whites like mom and dad. Well, congrats to him!
