barn pickin'

John went barn picking yesterday.  This barn belongs to my childhood bestie's grandparents.  Look what he came home with:

aluminum ice chest with wooden rim- can't you see it brimming with granola at the market?

scratch that- make that two aluminum ice chests

an old oiling set- i love the colors!
more great color
I have a thing for old rusty lanterns.  And hand painted...anything.
This wooden sign will be showing up on my market day table as well.

moonpie did some pickin' of her own- in the glove compartment of the car.
yeah- you read that right.

He came home with a whole car!

And not just any car.  This is his dream car.  For as long as I've known him, he's wanted this car.  I am so very happy for him- so grateful for this gift!

Wow..a whole car! But I would have been way more excited about the ice chests. This is when my husband would have to resist the urge to roll his eyes at me.

So those stories about all-original classic cars in dusty barns are sometimes true!
Looking forward to restoring this tired 283 V8/Powerglide two speed and getting the Impala back on the road.

Oh my word...I love your finds. Can't wait to see your vintage self all decked out selling granola.

This is GREAT stuff, you guys! Can't wait to see the finished product! One of my friends once found his dream car (a mid-60's Corvette) in the garage of an old lake house. He bought the house and the car, sold the house, restored the car....At least you didn't have to buy the barn? And yeah, I would have been pretty excited about the ice chests, too.

I would LOVE to go barn pickin', that sounds awesome! It's so good to meet you (via internet). Your sister, Tami, is the sweetest and I'm so glad she referred me to your blog. I have a confession...I am hooked. I'm reading it from top to bottom. It's the perfect activity while I breastfeed my son, Max...which is all the time. :)
