oh mr. sun

Oh my stars!

Look what we found when we went out to check on the hens last night!

Looks like we're not the only ones enjoying the extra day light!

Oh sugar! what kinds of chicks do you have? We're fixing to get chickens and I just have to have some eggs like THAT!

Yay! Don't you love that? It's amazing to me how the few extra minutes of daylight make them start laying again! And here we still have quite a bit more dark than light, but the chickens noticed the difference and eggs started to appear.

Stacy-
You should get chickens! They are so much fun and EASY! We have an Australorp (the brown eggs) and an Aracauna (the green eggs). I cannot recommend the Australorp enough. They are extreme weather tolerant and lay like a machine!

I was going to email you about your chickens but you just answered my question! We are going to get some and I am so excited! Yard eggs...yum!

how do they know where to start laying? ours just use the egg laying loft as a toilet...

Coco-

What we did was to put wooden eggs in their laying boxes. Once they saw that they started laying there consistently. And once they have a habit, they don't like change.

What a fun find! Ours haven't stopped laying this year. Just a couple of those really cold days we had an empty nest. We need more chickens for our family, but we are having fun with a few eggs.

I just got my first eggs on the 22nd...and then again today! What a happy day when the sun is out enough for good eggs!
