no'poo

Well...I've up and done it. Started going the no'poo route on Monday. So far I haven't had any gross detox, but I haven't used real chemical based shampoo in about 5 years.

I have long hair. Long enough that I consider it a public service for my hair to be looking at least a smidge decent when I leave the house. This is what has been keeping me from using the baking soda/water wash and the apple cider vinegar rinse. But I have to be honest. I am tired of paying lots of money for my organic shampoo and conditioner. Especially when I am not getting the results that I would hope to. So I'm going to give the no'poo method a whirl and see what I think. So far I like it! This is the formula I'm using now:

No'poo

1 tablespoon baking soda
1 cup water
- mix until the baking soda is dissolved. The solution should not be gritty at all.

rinse
1 tablespoon ACV
1 cup of water

I'll post pictures soon!

Can you make up a bottle full in advance, or do you have to mix it fresh for each use?

Hi Michelle-
I'm a newbie here, but my understanding is that you can make up a batch, put it it an old shampoo bottle, and use it until it's gone.

I look forward to hearing how it works - I tried a simple Bronner soap awhile back with terrible results but maybe just the baking soda and water would do the trick.
Warm wishes, Tonya

We went no 'poo this week, too! My only issue, so far, is that the mixture gets COLD, and it's runny since it's basically just water so it goes all over me. Not liking the coldness.
Other than that, so far it seems to work. Every time I hug my kids, I smell their hair to check if it's working. :) You know, since I can't smell my own head.

What's the procedure with the no'poo? Do you rinse with water in between the baking soda and the vinegar?

Thank you!
