the incredible, edible, egg!

we have eggs! finally! and even though they are miniature, i am not complaining. these little beauties were laid by one of our bantams ('starfall'- ah the creativity of a 4 year old!). john found them this morning and she had actually laid them in a nesting box and was sitting on them. good little momma! i went out to check on her after all the excitement had died down and i swear she was looking for them. it made me feel for her. i questioned my ability to do this. raise food giving hens. i'm ridiculous, i know- but it really made me sad. i'm over it now and looking forward to tomorrow morning when we will create the world's tiniest omelet.

moonpie cleaning the eggs. we had to assure her that we would not expect her to use this particular toothbrush tonight before bed time.

Wow! I've never thought of eggs as "cute", until today. How many eggs will you have to use to make breakfast??? I didn't realize how little they were until I saw the one in the egg carton.

Keep up the good work!

And, tell J to get back to bloggin'!

The first pullet eggs are always "mini eggs" at first. I bet they still taste great!

Farm on!

I love your eggs they brought back memories of my childhood. I used to be a 4H'R and we raised everything at my place. I remember finding the petite eggs and thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Side Note: Okay I tried your pizza dough, I must have done something wrong. Alex of course ate it, smiled and said great job honey. The kids scraped the topping off and said they did not enjoy the crust. Anyways, I'll give you a call soon to see what I did wrong. :(

Hey Mandy!! I am so glad to see that you have a blog too. Way to go with your chickies. I wish was able to do that here. I'm not sure my HOA would go for chickens...maybe I could bribe with free eggs. The kids look beautiful. Matt still talks about Moonpie.

Traci & I were recently pondering what kind of eggs you'd have out there. We both really like eggs.

Mandi....question about cloth dry bags. Laundry bag meshy like a fish net, or closed up completely? I think I'm going to try a dry bag instead of a bucket this time around. I really didn't like poop strings swimming around in the water anyway. (I have a new blog address)
