silk oak

In light of yesterday's post I thought I'd share some things that I am really digging these days that are either made here at home (USA), or I am certain they are created in an ethical manner overseas.

A while back I won a giveaway on Soulemama for $100 to Silk Oak!  I had been long admiring this small shop, and could not believe my good fortune to win!

Silk Oak is a woman run company in Ithaca, NY that silk screens each item they create by hand.  They use organic cotton t-shirts that have been made in the US.  For the work that goes into each shirt and the quality of the overall product, they are a great deal.  Here is my dotty chicken shirt that I chose, and I adore it!  I have worn it twice in the past four days (along with my favorite purple cords).  It is comfortable and unique and it looks like my favorite chicken- Bumblebee.

With the generous gift card they gave me I was able to order another shirt for me, one for Buddy, one for Moonpie and one for Birdy.  They will make their way into each stocking for each child.  A special little gift for these people I love.
