no'poo update- edited

i have one word...

ick.

that's how my hair feels. that's how i feel about my hair.

remember when i was saying, bragging really, how i probably wouldn't have much of a detox period? uh-huh. famous last words.

let's just say i'll be rocking the head scarf this week!

i have just read that i shouldn't be putting the apple cider vinegar on my scalp. just the ends. it's the ACV that makes the hair feel so oily. good to know. maybe i can go back to bragging about my no detox hair after all! : )
i have to add that this is so like me. i get the basic recipe and don't read the directions, assuming i'll just 'figure it out'. yeah, that really worked out well for me here!

I am so impressed you have started this. Am on the fence...should I? Have to say, when I do, I cannot bring myself to call it "no poo!"
LMAO. Haven't clicked through your links, but I assume one tells me how to go about doing this?

oh, i have been meaning to tell you....my friend started this a while ago and she has sence stopped cause she said it didn't work for her hair (so i am interested to see how it goes for you). when she first told me about it, i asked my hair lady what she thought, she is a hippy at heart, and she said it sounded good. the only thing she would add is that she would add a conditioning treatment once a week, with mayonnaise, vegannaise or olive oil (or something of that nature). i am still interested in trying this. i am intrigued about the stroking it a hundred times thing. can't wait to hear....

tammie-
i've read the same thing about the conditioning. i've been using coconut oil on my hair for a while now, i think i'll do that with just more oil. thanks for the advice!

I thought about doing this a while back but never got around to it. I've gotten so lazy! I like my hair, generally. I usually wash it every other day, with cheapo shampoo that's probably full of chemicals. Are the chemicals your primary motivation? Maybe I need to read something that really freaks me out. ;)

look at this...got this online from instyle magazine and thought it looked yummy, i mean, interesting:
Healthy hair with banana
1/2 banana- Bananas are rich in potassium, an ingredient that temporarily fills gaps in hair's cuticle, so strands feel smooth. Vitamins B5, A, E and C in the fruit preserve hair's natural elasticity, lessening breakage and split ends over time, Dr. Graf says.
1/4 cup plain yogurt- The lactic acid in yogurt helps maintain your hair and scalp's pH balance, so they stay moisturized and shiny naturally; fatty acids coat and soften hair, says Cygalle Dias, founder of Cygalle Healing Spa in Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic.
In a blender, whip the banana and yogurt until they have a smoothielike texture (about 45 seconds). Work the mask into wet hair, wrap a wet towel around your head and let the mask soak in for 10 minutes. Rinse, shampoo and style.
Tester tip Opt for regular yogurt, not lowfat, because it has a thicker consistency that won't slide off wet hair. Add a few drops of vanilla or lavender essential oil to de-stress while you wait.

You'll definitely get there! I've been no-poo for about 3 years now...

...I do put the ACV rinse on my entire head though - but everyone is different...

...Scout always crinkles up his nose when I come out of the shower - funny...
