one crunchy mama

alright- it's official. amy and i have launched our granola business. or, we at least have sent some very professional sounding emails back and forth in which i have limited myself to only 1 smiley face/email. that's how you know it's professional. we are very much in the beginning stages here, but i'm so excited! i love to bake and granola proves to be less labor intensive than other endeavors i've attempted (ie bread baking for the farmer's market- that idea lasted all of one day). we have perfected 3 recipes thus far. right now we are working out the financial end. and can i just say, that is where things turn less fun. nevertheless, we are happy about offering a product that is loaded with nutritious ingredients. we even soak the grains- holla! so if you're in the area, give us a try we are:

How exciting! You are an official 100% authentic granola girl.....but we already knew that! Ha!

I can't wait to try some of your granola. Is there a link in this post? How do I get me some?

I love the name too! You can do some really cute stuff with a name like that!

Many blessings on your new business endeavor.

Crunchy Mamas!I love it! That's very exciting. Congratulations.

I can't wait to try it. I love me some granola.

Now, I don't know a lot about business, but in my opinion, the fact that you are selling granola means that you can use all the smiley faces you want. Who doesn't love a smiley face? :)

How exciting! Will you mail your granola? I can't seem to make a kind that I like better than store-bought. I want to try some of yours!

what exactly is soaking, and what does it do?

alright- i'm just gonna quote sally fallon here:
"All grains contain phytic acid (an organic acid in which phosphorus is bound) in the outer layer or bran. Untreated phytic acid can combine with calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and especially zinc in the intestinal tract and block their absorption. This is why a diet high in unfermented whole grains may lead to serious mineral deficiencies and bone loess. The modern misguided practice of consuming large amounts of unprocessed bran often improves colon transit time at first may may lead to irritable bowel syndrome and, in the long term, many other adverse effects. Soaking allows enzymes, lactobacilli and other helpful organisms to break down an neutralize phytic acid. Soaking in warm water also neutralizes enzyme inhibitors, present in all seeds, and encourages the production of numerous beneficial enzymes. The action of these enzymes also increases the amounts of many vitamins, especially B vitamins."

Hooray! That's exciting! So were you doing extensive "product testing" when you were chowing down on that huge bag of granola at the lake? :)

That's awesome! Are you selling it at the market? I asked one time about selling baked goods there and I all but had my head bitten off! They did not seem to keen on the idea. Good luck with everything and I can't wait to try it! Oh yeah, I love the name.
