put down that soda, dangit!

When people ask me if I have a number one tip to give them to feel better, increase their energy and maybe shed a few pounds, my response it always to give up soda.  I gave up soda 9 years ago and it was so hard!  It took a good six months for me to finally get over it.

Here's the thing about soda.  It's just plain bad for you.  There.  I said it.

When I saw this over on The Kitchn, I knew that I wanted to post it here as well.  Enjoy!

Uh, I don't know about that company but term life insurance is what Dave Ramsey swears by for life insurance, that aside, I knew about the osteoporosis, obesity, tooth enamel, corn syrup, heart disease, reproductive issues, diabetes risks but the asthma risk is new to me. I was given unbridled access to soda as a teen and suffered greatly from seasonal allergies including ashtma..that is interesting that soda may have stimulated it in a way. I have to say, as a treat or in the early, nauseous weeks of the first trimester of pregnancy, give me a Cherry Coke please!! It is what it is. Perrier will do just fine though and I think, some kind of fizzy water is a good first step in weaning off soda. You can even spike it with Stevia Root Beer flavor herb sweetener.

I was only having 1 a day. But decided to give it up. Flavoring for my water helped with my transition. I also started eating (a little) healthier and exercising 4 times a week. I lost almost 8 pounds in 3 weeks. I contribute much of that to not drinking so many calories!
